3D Visual Effects: Maya Dynamics with Stephen Sayer

Starts August 2, 2010

Some phenomena–such as falling rain, billowing smoke, tumbling blocks and flying flags–are difficult or impossible to animate using conventional key framing methods.

Students will be introduced to the mechanisms, which underlie such phenomena, and will learn how to realize these effects using the tools in Maya’s Dynamics menu set.  These tools include particles and emitters, soft and rigid bodies, fields and springs.  Students would be expected to have basic/intermediate familiarity with Maya.

STEPHEN SAYER holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as a diploma in Classical Animation. His combined scientific and animation background has resulted in a deep understanding of 3D Computer Animation. He has his own business specializing in computer animation, traditional and digital artwork, storyboarding and digital photo-editing.

Max the Mutt is a cartoon dog brought to life by Tina Seemann, our Animation Director. He’s a team player, loyal, unpretentious, and a hard worker with a great sense of humor. He’s our hero.
