Portfolio Review Requirements
1) YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM AND PORTFOLIO REVIEW FEE.
2) YOUR TRANSCRIPT
Provide transcripts from any secondary or post-secondary institution attended in the last 5 years.
3) YOUR PORTFOLIO
Students are not expected to have fully developed skills in drawing and painting. However, we need evidence of your efforts in painting, drawing, illustration, and character design. Your portfolio must include:
Five (5) paintings in watercolor, acrylic, gouache or oil.
Five (5) drawings of objects in an environment. For example: an apple and bottle on a table, or a toy truck on a floor
Examples of character design/cartooning.
A drawing of your own hand.
A drawing of a room (interior drawing)
A drawing of a neighborhood (exterior drawing)
Pages from your sketchbook.
A 2-3 page essay about yourself and why you want to attend this program. Your essay must include:
- What animated films, and or video games that have concept design have inspired you, and why?
- What are your major interests and influences?
- What are your favorite books?
- Have you had any “team or group experiences”, such as working on a school or community based event or project. Sports, theatre, music, school publication, or academic clubs?
- Why do you want to attend this program?
4) CHARACTER REFERENCE
A written character reference, from a current or past instructor or employer, with contact information. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TWO(2) REFERENCES.
IN PERSON PORTFOLIO REVIEWS ARE PREFERRED. BRING YOUR ORIGINAL WORK. IF YOU ARE MAILING IN YOUR APPLICATION PLEASE SEND 8 ½ BY 11 INCH COPIES. E MAIL APPLICATIONS ARE ALSO ACCEPTABLE.
